The traditional medicine of India Ayurveda has come a long way today while being tested on timely durations. It has proven itself as a blessing to guide human beings to achieve, live a healthy, peaceful life in a simple natural way. Little things with their importance are noted in Ayurveda to live in day to day life in order to have long-lasting wellness.

Dosh, Dhatu, and Mala are the main pillars of the body. Vat, Pitta, Kapha are three Dosha in the body.

Dosha in harmony maintains health while illness is the result of their imbalance.
They occupy each and every particle of the body with different areas and time periods of predominance. The body is considered as a whole while being thought for normalcy or illness or any course of treatment. Therefore, the correlations of different parts of the body and Dosha are important.

Likewise, skin also is considered as a reflector of the body’s normal behavior or illness. The glowing, even, toned, bright skin ( Prabha, Kanti ) is one of the important aspects of a normal healthy body.

Twacha ( skin ) is a Dnyanendriya with a sense of touch and touch is correlated to air and ether element out of Panchamahabhuta. It covers the whole body, protects the body parts inside. It controls body temperature and many more roles are explained today.

Skin and related components

Skin is under the dominance of Rasdhatu and Raktadhatu functionally.

It serves as an area of action for Rasdhatu which gifts healthy, moisturized, normal skin. Some experts correlate it with the plasma. Skin is said to be Updhatu of Rasdhatu. It can be explained as skin is created from it. Changes can be seen as dehydration or swelling during the abnormal Rasdhatu function. Skin also marks the presence of Swedwahi Srotas ( sweat and sebaceous glands and ducts ).

Sweat is given equal importance in skin physiology. It’s a very normal secretion in the body that should not be unnecessarily interfered. Pitta Prakriti person sweats normally more than others.

The products used to stop sweating at all may not be a good option to use. Still, the complete absence of sweating or excessive sweating or perspiration may be abnormal. Thus Rasdhatu, three dosha, and sweat ( though nobody likes it ) are important aspects of maintaining skin’s healthfulness.

Ayurveda describes the seven layers of skin, each with a particular character. According to these layers, their susceptibility to particular skin disease is narrated.

Importance of facial skin

The face is considered as an expression of Shukradhatu. The face can dictate the age-wise changes by showing the functions of the dominant dosha.

In babies and children, Kapha is prevalent, which is why they are chubby, soft with higher moisture content in the skin.

At a young age, pubertal and reproductive age periods, the reason for many facial problems is Pitta dosha dominance like acne, blemishes, etc.

As aging progresses, Vatadosha has more influence on the body like after 45 – 50 years. It can cause dryness of skin, fine lines, wrinkles, loosening of skin.

However, early aging can prepone those unwanted changes in our skin.

Dullness, loosened skin can occur as a result of accelerated Vatadosha function due to improper dietary habits, lifestyle, and stress.

Abnormal Pitta and Kaphadosha may be a reason to make skin oily, develop acne, or enlarged skin pores, pigmentation.

So, what can we do to achieve healthy skin?

Skin is just a mirror of our body. So, whatever we do to our body, it gets reflected outside. Using and applying various products will not be sufficient for our desired skin.
A healthy body doesn’t need extra effort to wear nice skin; it will be a natural bonus.Healthy food, regular exercise, enough sleep are well-known Mantras to live life well.
